Note: One year ago today, I was showered with love by the most amazing women in the world.  Reminiscing a bit about my unforgettable baby shower…

Happy New Year, dear readers!  I love the freshness that comes with each January.  As I pack up my Christmas tinsel and ornaments (which admittedly, was only a few days ago), I begin mentally unpacking my thoughts and resolutions for the new year. I really enjoy the practice of writing down a few goals and decisions for the year ahead.  It gets me excited about the future, and creates a bit of accountability when it comes to what I hope to achieve.  If you want to see my goals & decisions from last year, you can check them out HERE.  I think I did pretty well with all of them, with the exception of the sewing…  🙂  My greatest accomplishments and favorite memories from 2012 (all by God’s grace) were…

  • the birth of my beautiful daughter, Olivia (Olive) Iris
  • learning to knit
  • trip to Canada + Pacific NW cruise
  • planning and designing my sister’s wedding (LOTS to come on this one soon…)
  • learning to make a pretty killer pie (or two), including the apple pie I put on my goals list last year, and my favorite: blackberry peach!
  • growing in my role as wife and mother — loving every moment with my family of 3
  • continuing to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ

In 2013 I endeavor to… {GOALS}

  • Knit 30 items.  🙂  I’m off to a great start already, with one project nearly finished and two others “on the needles” that are about ready to be completed.  I will share some of my projects in an upcoming post.
  • Complete 100 workouts.  Although I may bemoan the early alarms, I love the sense of accomplishment I get when I finish a workout before Erik and Olive even wake up.  It puts my entire day on a great course.  As of today I have 2 down, 98 to go!
  • Learn to pray more fervently, more constantly.  It is so easy to shirk prayer but it is a precious and indispensable part of my walk with Christ.  I want to enjoy richer times communing with Him alone.  I want to grow in my dependence upon Him, and I want to grow in my trust in Him as I bring my petitions (and those of others around me) before Him.
  • Pursue another creative endeavor.  I am considering embroidery, calligraphy, and watercolor painting.  Yes, I know my interests are a bit old-fashioned.  I don’t mind that at all.  🙂
  • Redesign this blog and finally use it the way I have wanted to for quite a while…  Exciting changes are ahead, so stay tuned!

In 2013 I WILL… {DECISIONS}

  • Take on fewer than 15 clients and design & produce weddings that inspire me.  I am thankful everyday (especially this week, with two new couples!) for the amazing people who entrust me with their wedding day plans.  I will give them my passion, attention to detail, and a bit of my heart as I work to create one-of-a-kind celebrations for them and their loved ones.
  • Travel to a far off land (or lands!).  This is sort of cheating, since we already know we are taking at least one international trip this year.  I cannot wait to add another stamp to the passport (and Olive’s!!) as we embark on an adventure in a country I have dreamed of visiting since I was a little girl…  That’s all you get for now.  😉
  • Devote myself to the love and care of my family and my home.  I am grateful everyday for my husband and my long-awaited daughter.
  • Nurture my friendships with loved ones near and far, investing time into people I love.

I think that is it for now!  I can’t wait to see how this year unfolds for all of us.  What are YOUR goals or decisions for 2013?  I’d love to know how you plan to make this year your very best yet.

xoxo,

Angel

    That is SUCH a beautiful image of you guys. Makes me so happy. I love your goal of growing in your prayer life. I definitely echo that as well as your decision to invest/nurture friendships. It’s like I’ve been on mommycation 🙂

    Did you take a nutting class or online tutorial? Or a book?…

    miss you, lovely!! i take (free) knitting classes at my local yarn shop. i’d look into local yarn shops, as many offer similar classes. it’s simply a drop in class that is free when i use supplies purchased from their store. it has been wonderful! i fill in any gaps during the week with youtube videos. 😉
